When is the Arts and Sciences On-line Testing Center open?

When is the best time to take a proctored exam?
The sooner the better. Waiting to take a proctored exam on the day of the pull date may result in you not having enough time or computer access to complete your exam to the best of your ability.

How do I use the Arts and Sciences On-line Testing Center?
Your course instructor has made arrangements for you to take practice and/or proctored exams. The first time you come to take an exam, you will need to create a login i.d. When creating your login i.d., use your student i.d. number and choose a password that is easy to remember.

Why do I need to use my student i.d. number for my user i.d.?
There are two reasons you should use your student i.d. number. First, this number is easy for you to remember. If you forget your password, it will be easier to assist you if your login is your student i.d. number. Second, your course instructor identifies you in his/her students with your name and student i.d. number. When your instructor is assigning final grades for the course, the process will go faster if everyone has used his/her student i.d. number.

What do I need to bring to the Arts and Sciences On-line Testing Center?
You must have your UNL student i.d. card to take a proctored exam. You can obtain a new student i.d. card at the UNL student i.d. office in the basement of the Student Union on City Campus. With special permission, another current photo identification may be accepted for some classes.

What else do I need to know about using the Arts & Sciences On-line Testing Center?
As a courtesy to others, please turn off your cell phones and pagers. There is limited space for backpacks and coats, so please plan accordingly. Only students taking proctored exams are allowed in the testing center. Please instruct your friends and family to wait in the hall outside of the center.

Can I use my calculator or scratch paper?
Anyone can use scratch paper provided by the center. Your instructor will determine the necessity of your using a calculator on the exam.

What do I do if my computer fails during a test?
Whatever sort of difficulties you may have with the computer, raise your arm and alert a Proctor. If the server is down, you may be asked to return at a later time. Generally answered questions will be saved and you should be able to resume the same exam. Computer failure is rare.
