CSMCE Director Dr. Jim Lewis has been named a UNL John Weaver or Aaron Douglas Professor of Teaching Excellence and is also the 2009 recipient of the Louise Pound-George Howard Distinguished Career Award.

The Louise Pound-George Howard Award is conferred on an individual who, during his or her career at UNL, has made an exceptional contribution to the University: the award reflects a long-standing commitment to the University. The award is conferred by the faculty senate on recommendation from the Committee on Honorary Degrees.

The Weaver/Douglas Professorships for Teaching Excellence were established this year: they are awarded to faculty who demonstrate a sustained and
extraordinary level of teaching excellence and national visibility for instructional activities and/or practice. This Professorship is awarded by the Chancellor on recommendation from the Committee on University Professorships.
