As a science teacher leader, I am working to establish and strengthen science teacher networks and connections, both with fellow science teachers and with community resources. I want to help connect all science teachers, but I am especially interested in facilitating connections among isolated science teachers in rural areas. I believe the best opportunities for teacher professional growth are rooted in intentional and sustained collaboration and conversations that support teachers as they reflect on their current teaching practices and ways to make them even better. My goal is to help science teachers across Nebraska as they weave their unique skills and talents into lessons and strategies that honor the lived experiences of their students and the context of their communities. Fostering this perspective supports the idea that all students are capable of asking questions and constructing meaning based on evidence about the ways the natural world works.
