My research interest focuses on strengthening science teaching and learning by supporting school leaders as instructional partners. I aim to explore how professional learning can help principals better recognize and support high-quality, equitable science instruction aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Specifically, I hope to work with administrators and teachers in rural and small-school settings to help them navigate instructional shifts that emphasize student sensemaking, scientific practices, and real-world problem solving. By examining how leaders develop discipline-specific ways of noticing classroom instruction, this work aims to bridge research, policy, and everyday practice. Ultimately, I seek to empower science educators at all levels to create inclusive science learning environments where every student has meaningful opportunities to engage, question, and build scientific understanding.
